Form 2020 into a 2022...

Dealers really are offering top dollar for your trade. I took my 2020 X7 in service. Decided to talk to the sales manager. Long story short, I like the X7 and wouldn't know what else to buy if I had to. They offered me a 2022 with the same equipment for $28,000 out the door. My 2020 will be out of warranty in 8000 miles which is about how long it will take to build my new one. So I pulled the trigger. Waiting on my production number now. But seeing as the deal is done, I don't care how long it takes to build.

Are you sure it's exactly the same equipment? There's a # of items that are no longer available due to parts shortage.

For starters, You may have just downgraded if you have a HK sound system in your 2020. My wife is probably going to kill me but I’m going to see if I can cancel my order since it hasn’t started production. I just can’t get past the crappy base stereo. The last time I had a bad stereo was over 20yrs ago. Not acceptable in a $90k suv

Trade in values are phenomenal right now. I was offered $99k on my 2021 $107k sticker M50i. Now the offered me $3000 off an non Competition X5M.

Yup. I won't get the night vision and the phone charging pad. Won't miss them so it's ok.

I'm pretty boring in the music department. The stock radio is fine. It's what I have now.

Does the 2020 have any issues that the 2022 may not have?

I got lucky. Bulletproof all the way. Not one problem or recall. Just needed tires after 25,000 miles

Just be aware you are actually downgrading the actual vehicle and losing a lot of standard and optional options. Not really a apples to apples trade. This is why many that leased their 2020 vehicles are buying them out and not flipping into a 2022.

Yup, me too. My dealer bought my 2019 low mileage M2C for $4k above what I paid for it 2 years ago. They flipped the M2C in 2 weeks to a buyer across the country.
They also want my fully loaded 2020 X7M50i and offered me $109k cash. There is nothing else out there I would even want to buy and can’t even replace my X7M50i anyway so I am not selling as I need it. I have other fun cars so I let my M2C go as we are in unprecedented perfect storm with resale value.
They have confirmed lack of options on the top models have turned many away from buying this year.

FYI. I looked at 7 new MB S-class cars on the lot and all of them had major luxury options missing with low $ credits to make up for the loss options. It was pathetic. I don’t compromise when buying $100K+ vehicles and apparently many others feel the same way.

Maybe I am missing something. What options are missing that I don't know of already. I don't need the stereo. The night vision was nice but a waste of money for me. What else? Please.

Do you not listen to music or just listen to books/podcasts? I ask because the X7 is very quiet to begin with and imagine the poor sound quality of the base stereo would be much more noticeable. I appreciate the HK in my wife’s X3 and we don’t blast music, just like that it has a little bass punch and clear vocals, especially when driving on the freeway

You signature indicates your 2020 has HK. the 2022 will not have HK and it will be a big difference.

Also your original post said they offered you a 2022 with the same equipment. There is no way a 2022 has same equipment has 2020 given the various component shortages.

If I was offered close to that for my X7 that still has under 1500 miles I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Going by your sig:
- HK was in your exec package, the 2022 will be missing it
- Crystal volume knob (shifter and iDrive still crystal)
- Wireless charging
- No Dynamic Handling (only 50i has DHP as an option)
- Night vision
- Ambient Air
- The sunshade for panoramic roof is now cloth instead of alcantara (I think your Msport option had alcantara headliner - so headliner is still alcantara, just the sunshade for the panoramic roof is cloth).

I walked out of my lease and cashed in a 14k check out of that deal on my 2020 with 13 months still left on the lease and the need for a new set of tires at about 20k mile mark. I loved the previous one and I only sold it bc they gave me 10% off the new build plus I had a 3k incentive on the 21 I ordered.

Yep. There's a few other threads here talking about it and several people have new ones that are missing the Adaptive driving mode button.
