Not sure about the part regarding the production date. Not something I would wanna test and find out I always tell my service advisor not to perform any software updates without letting me know first and so far I haven't seen or heard any mandatory software updates in the US. Considering Alex@Alpine and BPM already support flashing on the latest software via OBD, I think it's just a matter of time BM3 will release their own solution. |

Litchfield posted on FB that they cracked the latest BMW DME update on the M2c.

so from the website https://www.litchfieldmotors.com/bmw...ower-upgrades/
it sounds like they basically have you bring it in and they roll back the April 2019 update (as opposed to having over come it). Quote:
Stage 1 ECU tuning with Ecutek software, Bluetooth interface and programming key £795.00 ex VAT £954.00 inc VAT * Late model BMW M2 Competition models have the latest BMW ECU firmware installed at the factory (~March 2019) or may have been subject to a Main Dealer firmware update. This new firmware version removes the loophole that allows direct programming through the OBD port. We are able to simply reverse this to allowing OBD programming, but we do require the car or ECU to be present so we plug in and unlock it (no opening is required). Once completed we can continue to tune remotely as before.

The 7/18 date is when the newly homologated S55 version was released for M2C M3 M4.
It ties in with the OPF production start in the EU and new non OPF version elsewhere just prior to the new WLTP emissions stuff which became compulsory from Sept 18. I'm at Litchfield next week for their hub capture so I'll have a chat about this issue with them. Yes I'm lucky as hell, they are just an hours drive from me... I am taking mine for 10K service next week, should I lock the DME now to let the car adjust for few days or will I be able to lock it morning of the appointment, so can't trace back.
Edit: locked the ecu to stock. had my 10K service done today, told the guy I had a urgent appointment and I have to leave in an hr and told them I don't need the car washed. I was out within 45 min. Didn't mention anything about software updates. Came home and flashed it back to stage 1. BTW my appointment was first thing in the morning when they opened at 7AM and I was the first one there. |

Advice
Not getting a reply from my previous post - thought it more pertinent to try on this topic!
I am currently running a Map from a UK tuner on my M2C which is all cool.. But i prefer the flexibility of going to bootmod3.. Question is i have the stock file which i can re-flash and is what i am now running. Now this stock file is back on the car. Can i go ahead and re-flash using BM3? Any help and advice appreciated. |

Should be fine, whatever is on your car BM3 just records as the stock tune.
The when you flash a new map it saves your stock one on the cloud system so you can go back anytime. |

It's called a "throttle pedal". Rather than a ON/OFF throttle switch, if you press it less than to the floor it gives less than full boost and avoids the inevitable wheels spin in lower gears. Amazing idea... not sure if it will catch on though. |

Having the ability to fine tune the amount of torque delivered at any given % of throttle is incredibly useful and is used by Formula 1 as an example. see 3:50: The idea that you can increase the window through which you can operate torque output gives you MORE control, not less. For street driving it may not be important. |

BM3
I'm considering BM3 just for adding Rev-Match with DSC Off. And am happy with that added power alone. Can always add stage 2 later.
