Has anyone ever seen a lifted X3?
Just curious as I am not a big fan of the X3 but was thinking the other day that it could look pretty sweet with a lift. Was trying to find some pics but haven't had any luck.

I don't think it can be lifted much more... Remember it's based on a 3 series, so I'm not sure how much farther those independent control arms and struts can travel.

There was that semi-lifted X5 that was on Fifth Gear a few years ago. It was a support vehicle for the BMW motorcycles on the Dakar Rally.
Even the X5's that compete in the Dakar aren't lifted that much... |

It's not like the X3 isn't ugly enough as is...

Hey guys for those of u looking to lift a BMW X3, it is possible and quite simple. I lifted my 2007 X3 by just welding some spacers, made of two circle steel peices and a tube, with 2" spacers u get like a 3 inch raise overall, for the back I made a spacer for the spring and replaced the shock with a pro comp that had more travel, for the front used just spacers, with this lift I fit 32 inch tires

So the front I just put spacers ontop of the strut and the rear I put spacers under the springs, and for shocks I just got pro comp shock off ebay that where intended for a land cruiser, I just took the travel on the stock one and added 4 inches to get the amount of travel to look for and got that shock.

Lift x3
Hi bodiax,
Did you chek for different spring ? A more progresive spring would propably be more confortable ? Did you remember the OEM spring travel ? 4inch more travel for 3inch lift seem good to me Do you think the control arm are to short ? Do you use wheel spacer and wich is you tire size ? Thanks in avance for your help! |

Hi Bodiax,
How are your cv joints holding up? I’m wanting to do something very much like what you did. The lift is quite easy but I’m concerned about axles. Thanks, Pat |

Hey guys.
I’m new to the site and also very interested in how these lifting projects went. I want to do a lift also and would love some more info. Bodiax3 Your car looks awesome. Would love to know what tyres and rims you used and if you have any clearance issues. Has anyone considered putting blocks under the axle support? It looks like the whole frame could be dropped by an inch which would lower the diffs but still give the lift without overextending the suspension. The drive shafts would have slightly more angle and the cv’s slightly less. Would also help your alignment. Last edited by TK0083; 09-17-2021 at 09:00 AM.. Reason: Typo |
