If I wanted a3 series the size of an E39 5 series.. I would have bought an E39 when they were made. Or I could still get one today. Some of us PREFER " cramped interiors and perhaps marginally lighter" Over the last 30 years, I have owned five BMWs, ( 2 E30 M3, one E46 M3 vert, , 2 other E46 convertibles and an E84 X1...) a Subaru Legacy sedan, and two 1990s era Honda Accord coupes. NONE OF THESE CARS IS THE SIZE OF AN F30 3er OR E39 5er. When I have needed seating room for more than 4, or large/long doors, I have owned two different generation Ford Expeditions for that. So.. BMW go right ahead and make an X7 if you want to try and get my money for a big SUV>.. ... but they are losing money by not making a compact sedan as they did for a couple of decades from the mid 1980s to early the middle 2010s when the E90 ended production). Since I have owned a HELLUVA lot more compact sedans than Large SUV.... and since I have NEVER PURCHASED AN E39 sized vehicle to date... it sure seems to me that BMW no longer has vehicles that I will be interested in very soon. I am sure I am not the only person in this dilemma.. and BMW is simply leaving market share on the table. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 07-13-2019 at 04:49 PM.. |

The closest car I would say to that is probably the M240i and M2/M2 Competition but sadly they lack 4 doors. |

Well who is making fun light weight RWD and perhaps 6 speed manual these days? Alfa Romeo?

I hate heavy cars. I have an arbitrary max of 3,200 pounds and it has to have a manual. I'll accept fwd or awd if rwd with those traits isn't available. I'm 6'2" and daily a GTI with a kid in it. I hated every second of driving the barge sized F30 we had and haven't missed a single element of that car. The even larger G20 holds absolutely no appeal to me, just as every previous 5er and 7er have just never shown up on my personal desire-o-meter. Big cars have their place, just not in my garage (or at least my side of it.) I have no desire to make a coupe work, and the lack of rear windows that roll down for my dog is a second knock on the M2C for my purposes. There are no current BMW's that raise my eyebrows even a little. Quite the change from when I had an M Coupe, 135i and E36 M3 in the garage and strongly considered adding the first Mini-E to that. I can't really see a BMW or Mini product bringing me back now. |

They get rid of the 6er/M6 Gran Coupé only to introduce a Gran Coupé model to every other even numbered Series in the lineup.
Makes sense BMW, makes sense. |

All they’ve done with the old 6 Series models is rename them to the 8 Series. The market isn’t big enough to require four different sizes of coupes, convertibles, and four door coupe models.

Will wait for camo to come completely off but from what I see so far... What about this is uniquely BMW? What sets it apart, like so many before?

Agreed. Very nice drive. Suspension and transmission are much better than my GTI, but it's F30 large and styling is, uh, challenged.

I would take my steering wheels flat bottom but i am not used to it so when turning it more than 45 degrees it does take some getting used to. |

Just curious as I'm seeing these spy shots now, and also seeing the excitement for a 2er GC for the first time...
I wanted to know why do you guys like it, what's the appeal behind it? For me, I can't help but look at this like another X4 or X2... I feel that the essence of the 2er was lightweight and compact, low, and simple, if you wanted bigger size or 4 doors the 3er is perfect. I imagine the 2er GC would be such a horrible compromise between the two. What are your thoughts? |

Civic SI is a 2-door coupe only. The interiors are pretty low rent (the seat material is straight out of dollar store) and the infotainment system will get on your nerves. If a person is looking for something fun and relatively inexpensive they are great cars but if you are used to driving nicer cars it's going to be a compromise for sure.

Sure the gearbox was a crappy ZF but honestly for that type of car (4 door sedan) where my expectations were super low it was just a really well engineered and fantastic car to drive. It felt communicative....
