The previous M140i & M135i both had lovely 3.0L in-line 6s and had a lot more character than the AWD 4 Pot Golf R, S3, Cupra & A45. This new take is just disappointing in my opinion :/ nothing really to set it apart from the rest

But the other guy said this 1-series looks like the Focus.

I was just trying to make the point that the Focus looks good too.

But I agree with you they look nothing alike, both look nice though.

But where is the M1 that can compete with the RS3 or the new Mercedes A45s?
BMW is stepping out of competing with other in the performance hatchback sector. This was the inline 6 that delivered the „big" power, thats why this one is called agsin M135 and not M140.

There is a market for a house-work-house cars like Golf, Focus, A3, AClass etc. Bmw juts whants a piece of this market. With this 1series - they are going to have it, if priceses will not be insane. Most of production will a FWD / small engine / low trim units , targeted for EU.

I, personally, like the pictures i saw, and I think 2.0+awd will be a great fun to drive.

So the 1 Series now finally changed from a totally unique car in its segment (inline 6 longitudinally placed, RWD) to a dime a dozen car where it'll meet fierce competition by brands that already make this car for years and years by the millions (VW Golf/GTI/R, Audi A3/S3/RS3, Mercedes A-Class/A35/A45, Ford Focus ST/RS, etc.).

Looks like a Honda or some other generic car. Just had a Bimmer badge slapped on it. I'm usually not a negative Nancy type, but I don't like this at all

The nose with this overlarged kidneys ruins the front. Side and back looks good. The same goes for the cabin.

But when you see the base car, (configurator on bmw.de) then you get shocked. No led front or back. Analog dials, far from this cool looking Press cars.

What a travesty. Would definitely just take the comparable Mini or Golf over this.
