This is a great suggestion and I'm surprised I haven't read this before. Its always the most logical ideas that are overlooked. It would be both cool and functional. Someone needs to find those old suggestions threads and add this one to it.

The only e9x suggestion thread I remember was at another forum: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=131351

The longer I have had my car, the more I have wanted the puddle lights to behave this way with CA...

They are part of option 563, which is standard on "SE" and "M Sport" models in the UK

I love the feature. But I find sometimes I don't notice it in brightly lit areas at night but it definitely stands out in low lighting conditions.

  • How effective are they? Do they actually light up the immediatey area around the doors or are they more for show?
They actually light up the immediately area around the doors, average darkness or very dark location (garage, some parking lots, Etc.).

  • When to they actually come on? I imagine they would be on everytime to switch off the car. Do they come on when you unlock the car (via the FOB)?
They come one when you unlock the car with the FOB.

Quote:
  • On getting out of the car and closing the door, do they immediately switch off, stay on for a time or not come on at all?
They come one when you lock the car with the FOB and stay on for a few seconds.

+ They also look very nice on a Black car
