Not a fan of these FWD BMWs>
Get ready to see the $199/month lease commercials. Now, *all* secretaries can rock a BMW

Sad sad day........
Why can't BMW setup a sub-brand to sell these economy cars? Like a Toyota/Honda! Honestly I think its time to move over to Porsche to get a little bit of exclusivity.

Looks different than the concept car. It's lines don't flow like they should and it's oddly boxy. The result is the look of a knock off of a BMW as many others have commented. For some reason I get the impression it will have awful torque steer and under steer like a MF. I guess if they keep it under powered that would prevent the torque steer. And that shifter. It makes the term "rowing through the gear box" way too literal!

For the last few years I wondered why BMWs continually look like the Japanese counterparts and now it's hitting me.. China is its most promising market in the future so start tailoring to it. So sad.. when I look at my 40 and 25 year Bimmers they carry the sense of a "machine".
Certainly why the brand lost me as a new car buyer... getting my ZHP fully reconditioned so I can drive it for another 5 years.

This is making me feel that when I own a BMW it just won't feel as premium....If I'm making any sense I don't know. It's pretty much the first time where I can really say that I HATE what I'm seeing

Funny, the concept looked great, as usual.
Then they release the usual boring, cheap and very unexciting stuff like this. The UKL platform is like a sub brand to BMW, a Mini/BMW entry level brand with cheap gear selector, steering wheel, seats and pretty bland design. UKL is not worthy using the BMW brand imo, release premium cars under your premium brand, the UKL is really dragging down the entire branding.

I wouldn't consider this but overall it looks more attractive than a CLA and A3.

Seems more like the size of the beloved E36 and E46. Hope it comes to the US. The F30 never felt like a "compact sports sedan".

Since I love the new X1, inside and out, I'd probably love the new 1 sedan if it ever comes to the US. Interiorly, it looks very very similar to the new X1.
I've actually had the privilege of driving a 5-door 1 series before. Therefore I will miss a RWD 1 series. Unless they're resurrecting it as a 2 series grand coupe with a hatch rear. BTW, having owned the old X1 and the new X1, I don't lament the loss of RWD. Not one bit. |
