Anyone else park far away from other cars in parking lots?
..to protect from idiots dinging your cars when opening doors?
Just curious if most of us with X7s and other newer cars do. Got a ding a couple years ago, and ever since then I'll try to find the most open spaces, even if it's the farthest away. With the holidays especially, sometimes it's impossible so I'll try to find a spot where others cars can't park on one side, and then hug that side. It's harder to convince the wife to do the same haha. She gets a bit annoyed when it takes me 5 minutes to find a suitable spot.

My wife is too nervous to curb the wheels and extremely fearful of backing it out of the single car garage, even with the back up assistant feature that I've showed her how to use many times. From several previous vehicles that she has destroyed the wheels with curb rash. I personally would never think about getting a wheel and tire protection package but with her, I hv to get it on every vehicle. Figured it's the least I can do for leaving the toilet seat down over the years 😂 Anyway, back to the original question …..I always park far away from others to avoid the door ding. |

As far as the toilet seats, after I laughed at a friend who told me he started sitting down to take a leak, one day I gave it a shot and never looked back (and no more complaints about the toilet seat).😉 |

I think it's the other vehicles that should fear the mighty X7. It's rear doors are massive. Is there any other vehicle out there with larger rear doors than the X7???

My spouse stopped expressing displeasure decades ago when I parked at the remote spots to avoid door dings. (She realized her complaints would not alter my behavior...) I am happy to walk the extra distance to avoid door dings. I even drive around with the hitch as bumper protection...

I used to park further away from the shops. In spite of that had a ding last year. So stopped doing that anymore

I always park far away. Hate door dings. Even my Tacoma gets that special treatment.

Always park away. Done it for 30 years now with all my nice vehicles. It’s a lifestyle as I also “have” to do regardless if I want to with my huge Power Wagon. It’s just easier. I also find other nice cars find their way next to my BMW.

I do.....unless...it is the same vehicle like mine and for fun, I park right next to it.

Been remote parking for years, but I am even more committed to doing it with the X7 !
At the office I was taking up two spaces to provide some extra space/protection but some women tenants complained (with an anonymous note left on my windshield) and then to the landlord that I was using up the spaces that THEY wanted. As the tenant who had been renting longer than any others in the building I initially got support from the landlord who said park anywhere you want to. But that changed when the female landlord got "influenced" by the other women. So now at the office I park (in only one ******* next to one of the handicap parking spaces (which are rarely used). Shopping center parking lots are my favorite and can always find a spot in left field. Online shopping trend is seemingly making it easier to find my perfect space "away" from the ding bats. Love it! |

Definitely a “far-parker”. In many cases its probably quicker since you’re not driving around trying to find a parking space closer to the entrance…I just drive straight to a parking space at the end of the row & definitely at the top of the hill (when the parking lot has a grade).
Lately, though…there are other far-parkers that are inconsiderate and are leaving their shopping carts out at the end instead of taking them back to the cart corral. I guess they only care about their own vehicle and don’t care if their shopping cart rolls into other far-parker’s vehicles.

I drop my wife off at the store's door which she appreciates and then I go park far away from the other vehicles. I even go get the car and drive back to pick her up at the door unless she chooses to walk. Now that's service and love right there for both the wife and the X7… win win.
