How do I check production status?

In many forums, it’s been mentioned that you can watch where your car is in production. The dealership I ordered through did not give me information on how to do this. Should I go back to them, or is this something I can find on my own?

https://mygarage.bmwusa.com/

Click "Add a Vehicle"

Click "Vehicle still in production? Enter your Production Number instead."

Enter 7 digit production number.

Click Next and proceed to the end.

It’s a 3 part process:

1. Get your dealer to give you a production number and your build week. While you can use the website, the information there is always out of date. You want to use the 800 number and ask for “production status” when prompted. (800) 831-1117

2. Once the 800 number tells you the car has been produced and shipped, call your dealer and ask him to check the ground carrier and bill of lading number and he can tell you when it’s going to arrive at the prep center.

3. Once he confirms it has prepped, it’s up to the dealer to prioritize your car ahead of others coming to their dealership. Be nice and hopefully they get your car quickly. My dealership had a huge backlog and it took me 10 long days to get my car which was sitting 5 miles away from my dealer.

Thanks for the tips… I know it seems crazy but I’m not in a hurry to get my car- I am on a lease that’s not up until November. I know it’s going to be here before November based on production schedules, but in my mind, if it arrives around the end of September, that would be perfect.

This worked perfectly. I can see it’s ordered properly and in the queue, which is all I wanted.
