Tune DME vs EVOLVE?

Hey guys so I have been thinking about tuning my car and have found a ton of info on most major guys like DME but not much about Evolve. Anyone have any experience with Evolve stage 2 tunes? What kind of numbers do they put out and are they reliable. So far I have found a lot of info on DME and most people seem to be happy with them. I am not trying to squeeze every last power out of the car I just want a somewhat safe tune.

You should also look at BPM. Mike is complimented all over this forum.

Second with Barry_S I'm running BPMSport stage two tune and its great. I also had stage one tune for about a year and its solid as well.

Are you thinking of doing catless downpipes?

Im planning on running catless with intakes. I don’t want too much torque or power because I’m gonna be running stock clutch and I hear too many people blowing engines with high horsepower and torque. Also I hear that Evolve is one of the only few tuners that created their tune from scratch without using someone else’s base tune. However I’m not too sure about that just what I have heard from local shops here. What kind of power are you getting in the dyno with a stage 2?

So for me I'm at 709 hp with 740tq from the engine. I would recommend that if you go stage two that you upgrade your clutches. If not, I'd say get stage 1. BPM also created my tunes from data from my own car (I sent them my car data, they sent me back the tuned data files to upload into the car).

I'm pretty sure Mike BPMSport is So-Cal

I was I. The exact same situation as you, not trying to squeeze every ounce of power, just wanted to wake the car up. I went with Mike at BPM, no regrets. GL with whomever you choose, DME, Evolve, BPM all great at what they do.

Which stage did you get and what kind of numbers are you putting down to the wheels? Also how long have you had it on you car?

I'm currently Dinan Stg 1 and planning on going stg 2 w/ catless dp's later this year.

Bpm has a really good rep. I too don't want to go too crazy with hp/tq. Looking for more power but low tq and fairly safe.

Evolve has plenty of videos out there;

I went with Evolve. As mentioned above Irman does ALOT of comprehensive videos, and did the white f10 M5 he owned and documented. A lot of runs at VMax events with his f10 and now his F90. I've spoken to most tuners mentioned prior to going with Evolve. I liked a lot of them, but Evolve was the one with the most presence I could see watch and learn from on YouTube with their before and afters.

Go to their channel on you tube, it's interesting stuff and he walks thru each mod. Anyway since I got my tune, I sent them my 2 ecu reads and they sent me tune. They did some live logs while I was driving, they ghosted my laptop to be sure all was good. I only paid them once for the tune, they have revised it for my specific wants and 2 months later sent me a file for my EGS(clutch pressure) when I inquired about wanting crisper shifts. So my experience has been really good. I think their tune is modest and safe in terms of power. My car is my DD so I didn't want the engine pushed to the total max. They always respond, have not accepted money when I offered for tweaks and extra's. So I've got nothing but good stuff to say about their team. My only gripe is I live in America and they are in the UK, so when they ghosted my laptop I had to wake up really early. But couldn't ask for more accommodating company.

Thnx for the info. How long have you had the tune on your car? Also why did you have to send them your reads and what do you mean by ghost your laptop? How did they do the live logs and where they after your car was tuned? Thnx

I've had the tune I think 4 months and since I had 5k on car so about 5,000 miles driven with it. They used "anydesk" to monitor my laptop while I did some pulls so they could at my request just be sure everything was doing perfect inside engine. Did this with laptop hooked up to my OBD.
I sent them reads to tailor the tune to a couple specifics I wanted.
I've run invalid 11.2 at 123(I think) and valid 11.4 at 123 and 3.4 0-60 on my 2019 M550 with their tune

Thnx everyone for your input. I’m going to either go with Evolve or BPM. I’m going to contact both tuners and speak to them and based on my convo make a decision.

I have no experience with either, but it looks like BPM is local to you. That would be a huge plus in my book.

Yeah having a local place that can tune your car on the dyno is something hard to do any better than.

BPM doesn't Dyno tune to my knowledge and don't see a physical location. Sounds like they do remote flashing only (but I could be wrong). But I agree I would much rather prefer to take my car into a physical location and have them do it.
