What do you guys use to get light scratches out?
Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum so want to say hi to all.
I just bought a 2007 CPO 328i sedan from my local BMW dealer. The car is amazing and I'm in love with the Black Saphire paint job. The only problem though is that there are quite a few scratches and swirl marks that kind of bug me and was wondering if you guys knew of any commercial products that might be able to take them out. It's nothing serious, but would really like to do something to get them out. Any suggestions? |

i just did my seasonal waxing and decided to do something about my swirl marks..i used scratchx entirely over the car and followed with a coat of high quality wax..the results are pretty damn good i must say..while it doesn't ENTIRELY remove all the swirls, it forsure helps a lot..and makes the car look much cleaner in the end after the coating of wax..my only complaints about the scratchx is that you really cant wait long for it to dry at all..if you do its very very hard to buff off

Your first option is taking the car to a good car detailer. If you want to do it on your own, read alot about car detailing...On a more technical side, having a Black Sapphire which is a hard paint, you should try Menzerna Power Gloss PO203S with a dual action polisher like Porter Cable 7424XP and a Lake Contry white pad for swirl marks (or an orange or green pad for light scratches), after first washing/claying the car. For light scratches removed by hand, Quixx is one of the best, if not the best (google it).

Word.
Meguiar's ScratchX works pretty well for me for the REALLY light stuff - use it and wipe + wax the affected area Good luck

I don't thin scratch X should be use in the entire car. Can be pretty abrasive if not careful. It's supposed to be used for isolated scratches or blemishes... for example a scratch left by a car.... but swirl-marks??

In your case, a couple of things could have happened. The bird crap damaged your clear coat and with the scratchX you were able to "even out" the defect... Or, you scrubbed the paint too much when applying the ScratchX. Likely is the first option. When everybody ays that bird crap can really damage the pain is no myth.... It's hard to believe that manufactures haven't been able to use/produce paints that will resist this agents... Try to keep the car sealed or waxed. Than helps. |
