Just finished having my X5 coded

I had my X5 remotely coded. Here are some of the highlights;

- Anti Dazzle
- Automatic speed limit +/- set for cruise control
- Sun Roof close if raining
- Key Fob closes hatch
- Safety message eliminated on startup
- Start in Adaptive (already coded via BimmerCode)

There maybe a couple of other minor ones too. I’ll update as I get the chance to see how they work.

Here’s who I had do the coding:

I'm going to have to check my bimmercode for this - never knew it was a option

* Sun Roof close if raining"

LOL. Hopefully it will trigger the doors as a option as well

It’s not BimmerCode sadly, its a third party company that remotes into the car via an Ethernet connection to a laptop.

Yes, I know. I was just referring to see if said comment on rain/close was a option in B-Code

iFly or if Jim sees this. Recent thread seem to suggest it doesn't work....which I did on my F15.

Does the advance coding for the tailgate slam to -softer close- not work on the G05. I recall a recent post that said the same coding parameters don't work not the G05

I had this coded on mine but have not had a chance to test it out (it's been more than a month with no rain in Houston lol)

I do not believe the soft close coding works on the G05.

Yeah I haven't tested automatic rain closure for the sunroof. I did try to code the tailgate soft close and that didn't work for me.

It allows you to have the cruise automatically adjust to the speed limit. There are two +/- settings, I believe one for under 40mph and one for over. For example, if you always drive 8mph over the limit then you can have it set so when the limit changes the set speed for the cruise will be set to 8mph over the limit.

Personally I would never do it on the X5, the technology is just not there yet. Too often the cameras or nav information gets the wrong speed limit. That said, there seem to be a lot of folks that do it so maybe the false limits aren't that bad for them.

I don't ever use CC or see the need for DAP. With the comment on auto cruise control. Would this only be applicable only when using factory navi active. I tend to Use Waze via CarPlay. Or active still works in the background regardless

You are missing a lot.

The option has nothing to do with whether you are using navigation or not. The speed limits come from the camera and the nav road data.

Will it only adjust to the 8 over you speak of when it detects a speed change itself? What if you hit the set button to manually set a new speed? Does it go that exact speed or 8 over?

That is a good question, I would think it is only for the automatic speed limit changes. If you are currently using the Set button to set the cruise to the current speed then it would continue to operate like that.

This feature is available in Europe without coding so hopefully someone there that uses it can give more information.

For lower speeds I would use minus 5 so I'd be able to go down to the minumum of 20 but it actually be at 15 mph for school zones.

My guess is that wouldn't work since the minimum for the cruise is 20mph.

If you would like to check to see if it closes the sunroof, just give it a light spray onto the windshield where the rain sensor is located.

This is correct, in my limited experience the X5 reads or has the correct limits 95% of the time. Like all convenience features, it is still up to the driver to maintain situational awareness and control of the vehicle.

You can always override the feature using the toggle on the steering wheel too.

I don't have the automatic speed limit changes (not available in my country), but the two speed offset values work when pressing the Set key (so I can easily compensate for the speedometer error).

Excellent, thanks. I assume then that you have your Set button set up to accept the current speed limit for the cruise speed and not to use the current speed, is that correct?

Update:

After driving with the new features enabled for a couple of weeks, here are a couple of observations.

- Automatic speed changes in with adaptive cruise:
* Works automatically if “full” cruise is active (with lane control)
* If lane control is not active, set button will need to be pushed but will set too the +/- speed set by user
* Works perfectly ~90% of the time but does get false positives from some signs. I noticed driving on I80 in Chicago that it would read the Truck Speed limit signs and set to that speed, also it miss ID’ed some “weight limit” signs and set speed based on the 45 tons.
- Anti Dazzle:
* Only had one day were conditions allowed testing. Driving home from fireworks, we took a variety of state highways, country roads, and interstates. The feature was amazing and I could really get a great feel for how the Laser Lights perform, something I haven’t seen in the 1.5 years prior
