Based on the information shared, it looks like the following features will not be available until the end of April=> Specific Bluetooth and Wifi Functions, Temporary Deactivation & Preparation Remote Software Upgrade (6P1)

Touch screen is not impacted.



This makes it less and less attractive getting a new BMW car! Not sure if this temporary deactivation can be activated at a later stage

Man, no CarPlay is a huge pill to swallow for those of us that run Waze religiously. We've been toying with changing direction and selling/trading the X7, but it's stuff like this thanks keeping me from pulling the trigger.

No CarPlay might be a deal breaker for me. It was in my top 5 must haves for the X7. Glad I got mine the way I wanted it before the shortages. I might just have to hold onto this tank a lot longer than originally planned.

CarPlay was also one of the item in the top of my list. I had to do couple of compromise with my phone holder to run maps on iPhone

The perk to running Maps from iPhone, allows the map to be displayed in the heads up display. Wave does not allow this. I love Wave because of the police, pot hole and object on the road alerts that it gives you well in advance. When you own a motorcycle, the object on road warning is literally a life saver. I've come across semi truck partial rubber tires, lawn chairs and bicycles lying on the freeway that I more than likely would've hit had I not been looking for them after the Wave warning.

Haha...and my dealer said my order would not be impacted as it was allocated prior to these emails. My bet is they are making decisions right on the line for this options.

No touchscreen, no bluetooth/CarPlay, no hitch, no HK stereo, no wifi hotspot, no wireless charging...AND probably a $200-$500 credit for these missing options.

Who the hell would even want to buy an X7 or X5 or any model without these.

Wonder what the ripple effect will be across other brands. 2020 X7 M50i was the peak of the vehicle with all options available...2021 they dropped some options...2022, good luck.

I always ran both. Apple Maps as the primary navigation, with Waze in the background to ID all the road alerts...worked very well.

Man….between my wife talking and Wave talking, if I had Maps talking too….I would be ready to tell everyone to be quiet!! Typically I run with Wave on mute except when there is an alert. Love Wave.

I run everything in mute; Apple Maps, Waze, and the wife.

On muting the wife……that button is labeled "press at your own ⚠️" I tried pressing it one day while driving on the freeway going 73 mph. After pressing it, my airbag went off.

After that, I considered it to be defective and had to return it for a new one……..the wife, not the X7!!😂🤣

This is now getting ridiculous…..its interesting that they are not taking the ‘increasing the price’ approach but rather dropping basic features approach

I mentioned in the g20 discussion as well… I think "temporary" just means they have an idea when the parts will be back (April) and is not referencing any cars built missing the features, those cars will permanently miss them.

These are some big ones to the general public, CarPlay in particular. The optics of not offering this feature which is standard on 20k Econo cars might finally break the decontented sales streak. It was the same optics with the general public that killed the CarPlay subscription.

Touch screen and trailer hitch are back for the X7 but you're right, not the best time to buy a new car.

That being said, the X5/X7 is still selling very well.

I refused my X7 that doesn't have a touchscreen, they sold it the very next day. so maybe touchscreen/bluetooth/carplay is overrated for many people out there :|

A large portion of BMW owners are not auto enthusiasts and don't know any better, nor do they care.

These are badge on the hood “flex” buyers. They will sell these highly compromised vehicles because the market is so desperate now. In a few years when the options are back these cars will be avoided like a infected pet.
