I’ve had major some headaches getting an OTA update to install - even charging to ‘full’ on my CTEK, it only worked the second time I tried. No idea why. Prior to this, trips of 150-200 miles weren’t enough to give the battery a sufficient charge to install the update.

Anyway, the issue now is that Auto stop start doesn’t work, even on a drive immediately after I successfully installed the update. Not too fussed by its absence but more bothered about what it may mean. Is it likely that my battery is toast and simply can’t perform at a level needed for the function (especially given my previous battery issues)?

Second question, is there any benefit to keeping the charger at level 7/float for a longer period - I can’t see how it would but thought I’d ask.

Just take it into the dealer and have them test it. This way you will know your battery is good and perhaps something else is the problem.

More weirdness but a good result.

Despite stop start not working after I fully charged the battery a couple of days ago, I popped it on charge for most of yesterday and took it off this morning - it was registering as fully charged last night but I left it, FWIW.

Started car this morning and took it for a brief spin and within a few minutes, stop start was working again. Had totally forgotten what it feels like because it’s been months since it worked.

So, although totally annoying that it’s necessary, I am completely sold on the CTEK and will make this a part of my weekly routine to top off the charge. Definitely worth it.
