Front License Plate Bracket

Finally got pulled over, twice by the same cop in a week and so it is now sadly time to get a front license plate bracket.

What are my options and where can I buy the one that screws into the tow hook on the front of the X5M?

Forget the tow hook look. It looks retarded. If you don't want to drill holes then go to amazon and buy this

Command Picture Hanging Strips Variety Value Pack, 4-Small and 8-Medium Pairs (17203-ES) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OF6X48..._-JzFBbBYXRWXA and you are good to go.

I will not advise velcroing - if it falls or someone steals it and you loose a plate, its too much of a hassle.

This was the route I was considering if I was forced to put one on mine as well. He had to trim the plate a bit to fit the lower opening

Tow hook mount is unsymmetrical and ugly imo. Not to mention it gives it a cheap ricer look. The Plate under the bumper gives it a buck toothed look. If you are going to mount it do it in the middle. My buddy in NYC has used EZPass Velcro on the front and never had a problem. Don't waste your money.

I have a license plate slide. I usually have it tucked in throughout the day but pull it when parking overnight so that I don't get a ticket

Heres a picture of my car with it tucked in (I got it installed for $100)

jo2134...do you have a photo of the plate when it is out? What brand slider did you purchase. I have seen some where the slider bracket sticks out in front of the bumper skirt and doesn't give it a clean look.

Heres a picture of the plate out (this is the manual version there is also a more expensive electrical version that operates via remote)

I got it from this place called oneeightynyc I believe if you call them you would be able to have it shipped to you if you are interested. [IMG][/IMG]

I'm wondering if the mount will block the adaptive cruise control sensor that is in the middle of the lower grill area.

Just get the factory bracket. I tried tow hook, hideaway, a bunch. I ended up just putting the factory on there. Honestly doesn't look that bad.

[IMG][/IMG] I just have it hanging, will install the regular when I install the front lip. The X5m looks nice there's enough space there.

This is what I see when I see people lazily attach their plates like that.

Might as well only attach the rear plate with one screw too.

My plate was attached with the factory bracket rigged slightly with zip ties - yes, I know...bad but it looked okay (as good as it's gonna get with one of these tacky requirements in Texas) and worked well until last week. Now, the sensors on the front bumper go off every. single. time. I slow down. Every. single. time.

It wasn't blocking, or even close to, any sensor. I ripped it all off and the sensors aren't barking anymore so it seems that they just decided they too didn't like the front plate BUT every. single. time. I drive down to take care of something with my properties I get pulled over in one of the small towns or by the DPS in the county next to it. Every. single. time. I need to put something back on but I refuse to drill holes in the front bumper.

My neighbor has a slider on his ZR-1 so I'm thinking that's the way to go (he always just slides it out when he gets pulled over for no plate and the cops just do a head scratch). I'm pretty handy but not sure about installing one of these myself. Dealer won't install them - I've asked several times, so what kind of a shop would you recommend? Tint shop said no. Audio shop said no. I'm at a loss here.
