If you want all of the options—or even all of the standard equipment—you may have already missed that window of opportunity!
And if you're looking for a stick-shift M3, just forget about it for now. |

Decision to buy a car - new or used - has so many personal dependencies that there isn't a perfect time to buy a car. Someone with a newborn child will be looking for a larger vehicle. The debate of minivan vs SUV vs station wagon (touring) cannot even be predicted considering strong opinions about each option.
The more practical perspective: should the current vehicle be kept longer. |

This scenario is never perfect. One of my previous US East Coast "how to make moon crater size pot holes be irrelevant" cars some time ago was Toyota 4Runner. It would still be on the road if I hadn't sold it to a 4Runner enthusiast. |

LOL maybe so but good luck finding one! The more popular models like the X-3 and X5's have disappeared around here (DFW) Especially the non base models optioned up.

Just got in the last of my M2 stick orders. Delivered one and the other is about to dock. Can't get an M3 base allocation for the three stick orders I have. Meanwhile a stick M4 sits on the showroom floor, unsold. |

The likes of Carvana and Vroom over-paying to grab market share and squeeze out their competition hasn't helped. They seem to pay retail and sell at virtually no profit.

I can understand that. August is coming up and Europe is getting set to go on vacation. Maybe they'll start issuing 2022 MY allocations in July.

Another guy said he had Model Y (that i hate personally) on order and was told to expect delivery in Q2 2022. To your point, even if you want a car - soon you won’t be able to get one. So selling only. ;-) |

its a tough call. nobody can predict the top or the bottom. there's a chip shortage. inflation. markets are in a whirlwind.
plenty of people here say its dumb to buy anything over msrp. I bought my gt3 used at 3k over msrp. now i can sell it for 30-35k over msrp. i think you just want "a car" its best to wait. there will always be EVs that get better every year. there will always be SUVs. But if you want a drivers car... you should probably just pony up the money and buy now before it gets out of reach.

For what it's worth, I sold my truck for almost $4k more than what I paid for it with 14k more miles. I'm happy with the deal.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Unless you really REALLY need a car, now is most certainly *not* the time.
However, if you have an extra one sitting around, now is a great time to sell one. |

I'm just glad I bought mine at the end of January when I did. Sales were up, but inventory was still good and the markups hadn't started yet.
My last car started having problems at 115k miles and I had been on the fence as to whether to keep fixing it or just get a new one. You can guess which side I landed on...and boy am I glad I did, otherwise I'd be on the 'just fix it' wagon indefinitely.

I'm debating selling my F30 and buying a beater for now until the market gets an influx of used repo's from people buying cars thinking they can afford them at the current rates with the stim $$$, only to realize they cant.
