Carbon Fibre Widebody kit installed
A while ago we finished a carbon fibre widebody front kit to a 135i here in Melbourne. When finished we were able to display the car at the BMWCCV ShowNShine and the owner collected the car from me there. It had great reviews leading up to the public display and the day was perfect for displaying cars so led to a large turn out. The main kit of the guards, side skirts, front bar is all from Evolution racewerks and the GTR bonnet is from Siebon. The owner decided to have a clear coat installed over the dry carbon as it was purchased.
A few images of the finished product A few images during the install Side skirt with the Southern BM mesh insert to dress it up Dry Carbon trial install Side by side with my car so you can view the difference Comparison of stock guard and dry carbon unit Start of the reassembly, side skirts just fitted More images here Enjoy. |

Looks bad ass, Andrew. I assume WAY is pretty psyched too? Nice install.
Question though... I notice mounting holes for a fender liner. Did you install one, or is there a fender liner even available? It appears that there's some nooks and crevices that you could easily fill up with road debris without some sort of liner. |

If that is WAY's car, and I'm betting it is, he's got a set of 18x10's coming. I want to see his car with 285's on all 4 corners.

Yep just to crash it this time!
Not sure about 285. I only know the Dunlop R tyres with 265/35 18 as the widest.

I love that widebody! Are you going to get it painted to match? Not feeling the hood, but if you read any of my posts I'm kind of a plain Jane. I like the OEM look.

The liners are like that on purpose for now, we do have the modded factory ones fitted but they will be changed when his wheels get here and we do our upgraded oil cooler kit and he is looking at a cold air intake system which would route through the LHF liner, i just didn't see why i should mod liners to fit when the car has more development to do which could affect the liners mounting positions. I do hope the wheels get here soon, it will look far nicer.
Zuzu, heaps of weight savings, very noticeable, i don't have the stats here, i'm off for another couple of weeks on holidays. |

I know its a personal choice, but IMHO it would be a crime to paint over the carbon, especially on a job like that.
congrats, nice job. oz |

No you guys have it all wrong
This is the customer project track car, it's the big picture is what it is all about not just one part at a time. I show you guys what we are achieving step by step in order that you can follow the build over time and enjoy the process while someone else is doing it to a car we all love. In time, this car will get a rear carbon widebody conversion when something is available, boot lid, rear bar and stripped interior, roll cage, race seats, intake throttle manifold from evolution racewerkes, methanol, turbo kit, the sky is the limit, we want to develop the car in time and monitor the improvements while we do it. The carbon replacement panels were a two fold win, the cost of the components was comparable with BMW replacements and the weight savings were far greater. I wonder were the owner is, maybe he is too cool for us now he has carbon |
