Not sure if someone has already shared this. I watched it and really liked the video.

Yeah yeah yeah, replacing engine with spun bearing on an old M3, even less fun. Still love driving the car.

Good video. Thoughtful insights. I just don't think there is any more bang for the buck amongst performance cars right now.
Surprise! Most German cars experience massive depreciation post warranty, that's precisely why I buy them used...

E60 m5 is also an amazing deal. Probably the single best engine ever created by bmw and a v10 besting output of any lambo v10 until late. All in a 4 door package.
E92 m3 also is a car that from inside the cabin gives you a Ferrari experience in terms of sound, power delivery and all with the dct tranny ferrari uses. The e92 m3 was so ahead of its time. First production car with carbon roof, first production car with a dual clutch, a v8 revving to 8400 and a classic gorgeous design. This was bmw m finale and no holds barred effort with no gas mileage in mind or emissions or anything but a pure race car |

Overall, rod bearing replacement is on the easier side of major engine services. Not saying I'm thrilled that this is an issue with the car, but dropping a sub-frame and pulling the oil pan is something just about any mechanically inclined forum member could take on with a set of jack stands, a torque wrench, and a decent set of tools.

My last car was an '08 S4
"It's still easier than an engine-out timing chain replacement on an Audi S4 :P"
Sprint Blue... beautiful color and unique car, but I sleep better knowing my alternatives are not (i) pull engine to replace timing guides, (ii) replace engine once timing guides break and (iii) hope and pray nothing happens. I went with option (iv) sell the car and buy another car I've always wanted and that makes more sense for an area that never sees snow, and I'm happier for it. |

Psh. You don't oil your lawn, so don't water your engine

Not to mention the front bumper edges are scratched and it is missing the front undertray side pieces.

to be honest I would see a c63 as a better buy for under 35k vs a m3. less failure rates all in all.

Perhaps, but the M3 is more fun to drive. The C63 is not as communicative, no DCT or manual available and on track it doesn't handle as well. That V8 engine soundtrack sounds incredible on the C63 though.

I had drive my wife c63 for 3 weeks and I won't lie, I actually did rather enjoy it a bit more than m3 is alot of cases. lastly if you look at ring times that was actualy disproven. on a tight track a m3 will have the upper hand but anything out side of that, it's equal or favoring the c63. Not a huge jump between the two c63 black 7:45 m3 GTS 7:48 coupe c63 ran 8:01 sedan c63 ran 8:13 Bmw m3 ran 8:05
