Hey F30 Community,

So I have an issue with the 6 spd trans, it is stock from BMW. Whenever I shift from 2 -> 3 I hear a grind sound only when putting the gear in. Once I get passed that grind the gear itself runs fine no issues, it's only while entering the gear. The sound does not happen when going to the next gear. Although the 4th gear has started to do the same on occasion since I've started to skip 3rd gear.

I'm not sure which part it is in the transmission and from what I've been told is synchros or bushings. I'm not sure which one nor where to find any of these parts.

If anyone experienced knows what the issue might be and where I can find the parts, that would be splendid.

The syncros are bad. The other thing that's bad is there are ZERO rebuild parts available for BMW manual transmissions. The whole transmission needs to be replaced with either a new, or used unit.

It can not be rebuilt or repaired.

Dang no parts anywhere??? What is the point of owning one if anything ever goes wrong its just done.

It's not done. It just needs replacing.

It isn't a Chevy. Getting it going down the road again as cheap as possible once it's broken is NOT on the engineers mind when designing these.

No such thing as a cheap used luxury car.

Normal.. one of the main reasons to not buy a bmw 6speed manual car. Sorry buddy
