BC button stops working randomly

A restart of the car seems to clear it. At first it thought it was related to remote starting the car, but not the case. Anyone else experience this?

Also I can’t seem to reboot the iDrive. I’ve held down the volume for an eternity and the screen doesn’t appear to do anything.

Yep. It's very random and restarting the X5 is the only solution that works for me.

I was actually able to get mine working again using the reboot method. I pushed the volume button as others have mentioned and eventually the screen went blank. A short time later everything, including the BC button was working normally.

Is the car running when you try to reboot? It won't work if the engine is off.

This happens with my X5 once every few weeks. Sometimes more frequently.

I reboot iDrive and curse BMW under my breath for not having given us any software updates yet. The number and frequency of bugs detracts from an otherwise pretty great ride.

Probably jinx myself, but I’ve had it 1 month now and I have yet to reboot. v.53 is what it came with.

Lumpy - I think we are same build weeks (49). We have the same damn issues! What are your build details?

I'm on .49 and since taking delivery Dec 21 I've never had a BC button problem - UNTIL TODAY. Had to reboot iDrive to make it work.

Yes - we’re close build week-wise. I’m an xLine, premium tier with luxury seats, parking assist, driving assist, air suspension, HK, soft close doors, front/rear heated seats, trailer hitch, acoustic glass...

BC locked up twice yesterday... second time, after my initial post above. Aggravating

I don’t press it really at all - but I like it to display the current media. When the thing bonks, it displays the drive mode (D). When I try to set it back to media - It’s locked up. Craptastic

Happens all the time. I have pictures and video for when I bring it in Wednesday to get my KAFAS replaced to show the shop foreman. They couldn't reproduce in the shop last time.

Having the same problem. Car is in for this right now and is waiting for the new software update coming out tomorrow which I'm told will solve the issue

I had BC issue too, all I had to do is restart the car and it works. It shouldn't be this way though
