Stick to left is my solution also.

Quick and easy to do. A natural movement and then smooth acceleration. Selecting sport by the rocker switch is too fiddly.

But, if you're already in sport you just accelerate.

Mashing the accelerator and getting kick down can unsettle the car, especially out of a slow corner or when passing something very slow in comfort mode.

Stick to the left also resets the driver adaptation.
Selecting Sport via the switch won't make it any quicker in any case.
I find that with sport mode set to drivetrain and chassis I'm running one gear lower for a given situation. So, accelerating for a normal overtake doesn't kick down. Or if it does it's not as severe.

Acceleration may not be noticeably quicker, but all goes much smoother than when in comfort mode, with the stick in the normal right position.

Running standard comfort I've had kick down engage the sideways gear and unexpectedly kick the rear out. Particularly with my narrow winter rears when passing a tractor or something else slow on greasy country roads.

So, I find pre-changing down by selecting sport mode or putting the stick to the left makes for faster overtakes.
