In the case of the S55, it's a function of a much larger stock turbo and simply better flow of the components. Nothing particularly earth shattering in terms of technology or advancement IMHO.

Lets not also forget at least for the n54 its protune capable with every variable accounted for and adjusted for that specific setup... S55 is not.
