Ian Callum knocked it out the park with the F-Pace. But sizewise it's more an X3 competitor than an X1 competitor, IMO, and the F-Pace pricing bears that out. BMW should be watching it carefully; it'll be interesting to see how the forthcoming 2017 X3 compares.
Based on your stated goals it sounds like you made a great choice with the X1.
