I noticed when I pulled away in first gear, that sometimes the car would stumble for a split second, like it was bogging down. Then it'd pick up as normal.

This only happened sometimes, but I reversed the mod to see if it'd help and sure enough, it hasn't done it again since.

I can't see how something so far back in the system could affect the engine in this way, but my own 'evidence' really looks like it did.

Anyone else run into anything similar?
thats a pretty interesting observation and makes perfect sense actually.
part of the reason why im not into the whole "golf tee" wire, zip tie etc etc etc method. the knowledge i picked up over the years with my 335 i understood that i dont want to mess with ANYTHING physically..unless i am replacing the entire thing (intake, exhaust).. also reason why i never did those DIY blow off valve methods..cuz in BMW the smallest little thing plays a huge role in the overall car. i think what you did probably confused and tricked the car, and in low RPMs it was like "wait whats going on" and got clogged.
