Make sure the existing amp has a phono stage, or that the turntable outputs a line level signal... If neither, you will need a piece of equipment between the turntable and the amp... This is because the signal from a normal turntable is lower than a line level from, say, a CD player...

I have a ProJect turntable. They do them in your price range but they are manual, so would not act as you are looking for.

The aforementioned recommendation for Richer Sounds isn't a bad one. I have found them very helpful in past.
