For what you describe the clutch face is not completely disengaging from the flywheel.
So, is definitely not friction material wear.
Have you noticed the pedal height any different?
Does the engagement point change at all?
Has the clutch line been bled?
If you have a clutch stop, take it off and see if the additional travel makes a difference.
