Not sure about iDrive, but on non-iDrive, if you disconnect the phone, you don't have access to the numbers as you don't have access to any of the commands in the phone menu. If you try to go there, it says connecting, and if the phone is not there, you don't get anything. If you connect a different phone, you get the numbers of the phone connected.
