I would go with metallic all the way. I had a Black Sapphire bmw and it was really nice. Showed nice shade of purples with certain lighting.
One issue to consider was when I was getting custom body parts, the paint matching was kind of a huge pain in the ass. I am sure a solid black/white would have no issues.
