This is incredibly sad. Basically, 80 percent of BMW owners don't understand the basic heritage of the brand, as well as the -- not 'a', 'the' -- key reason why the 1 Series held allure for enthusiasts. And this is in Europe, where people are generally a little more tuned in to consumer-vehicle choice and provenance.

It's also proof that because the general public assumes stuff like this, BMW now travels the path of assumption in the name of sales and profit. How different this company was even 10 years ago ...
