I'll never take my car to the dealership without a loaner lined up. Even at my family mechanic, oil changes can take an hour or two depending on their workload for the day and how quickly they can get the car in to start the work.

With the value pricing the dealership is only about $30 more than a BMW indy or our trusty family run garage we use for our other cars. The ability to get a loaner from the dealership is worth it to me for the convenience of still having transportation and flexibility in when I drop off/pick up the car.
It's not much cheaper even if you DIY the oil change assuming you use BMW oil and filter/o ring/drain plug. Since the car has more liters per fill than typical as well as BMW synthetic being more expensive.
