I was told the same thing, if the scratch is deep enough to feel, it can't be repaired. In order to remove a scratch that deep, you have to remove so much material that you will cause noticable distortion in the galss...and that's bad on a windshield.

I have the Griots glass kit (and a Porter Cable polisher) and it does a great job of getting rid of very minor pits and scratches and getting the glass really clean but it won't remove deep scrathces.
