I’ve just come across this thread as I’ve now had this noise for a year. The car is E46 and a 52 plate. No issues until front near side caliper and both front discs and pads changed last April. The noise is driving me mad. It started when reversing with the steering wheel turning ie to reverse park but then also will make the noise if the car is in 1st but rolls back, for example while at traffic lights. The noise stops when the brake is applied. The garage were convinced it was a steering issue - new full system and noise is still there. It only happens when car is warm and definitely a resonance rather than a grinding. It also seems to sound as though it’s at the front rather than the rear. If anyone does find the cause of the problem I would be eternally grateful, it’s driving me to distraction
