Because that car was not stock and stock CTR's that have been driven around the ring have timed considerably slower. We have been through this many times already in other threads but the Nurburgring times are primarily done to rope in people that will just run with stuff like this without investigating if the car was exactly the same as the one you can buy at the dealer. It's still a great achievement by Honda but it's not as fast or capable as that Nurburgring time would indicate.
There's already rumours of a Civic Type R with CF roof and no spoiler running around Nurburgring trying to get the title back after being dethroned by the Megane RS Trophy R which in itself is also not the exact same car you can buy at a dealer. The whole thing to me is embarrassing quite frankly. The cars should be full production like any off a dealer lot or it's just a pointless exercise of dick swinging that "we can teak our car to be faster than yours".
