Dewald: there are no fault codes. Everything seems peachy!
It seems that I've overlooked probably the most obvious thing of all: that I almost always fill up at the same petrol station and, when I have filled up elsewhere, I haven't specifically checked the consumption.
I'm on a fresh tank from another petrol station and am going to see how things go this week, so that I can rule out the case of the station diluting their fuel or selling 93 as 95.
