Not crazy, there are some similarities, but I see the rear of the new Z as a modern interpretation of the Z32. Slightly different angles in this pic, but from the top of the decklid, up, the Z mirrors the GT/370Z more, and what's left is more modern, redesigned 300ZX to me.
