If you can feel the grains, your oil filter isn't doing its job. A good oil filter should remove particles down to the microns in size. Small enough that you can't feel them. Why not send a sample of your oil in for testing at 5K miles? They'll tell you exactly how much particulate is in your oil. Why is it that over the road truckers can drive so many miles on a single oil change, but a car engine cannot? I'd expect all that "grain" to sandpaper my engine away after being in my oil for even a few thousand miles.
