im almost certain most moderb oils and LL oils go much farther however my own reasons for short intervals.is to remove the carbon / micro metals and deisel pollution from the oil. which in turn decreases wear.
even after 1 or 2k miles in a diesel you can remove the cap dip your finger in and feel how grainy the oil is **carbon pollution**
