Your TPM went off because you lost air pressure. You either blew a hole in the tire or lost the bead from either the impact or a bent rim. The run-flat in theory should allow you to drive home or to your dealer on the strength of the sidewall, where you would have been SOL with non-run flats. Put another way, four years ago I hit something on the freeway at night in my Audi A6. Blew two low profile Continental Pro Contacts. I had to call for a flatbed tow. A spare would not have helped me. If I was running run-flats I may have been able to make it home.
