Sounds good Pooch, no one is perfect so I'll happily admit the mistake if i'm wrong! It may be because the non-M variants have a insulator and the M ones don't. The variations of parts across the world are huge so it makes sense why we are instructed to order the parts that match on the VIN. |

I could share so many stories about parts complication that differ by a minute detail, that I've only learned about, in passing, by being such an inquisitive nerd.
BMW parts makeup is so intricate, I recently learned that with some replacement parts, you not only have to match the part number but sometimes the revision code after it or else for something like the iDrive controller, the vehicle would require reprogrammed to sync the your software iLevel, with that part index.
