Saturday 2/24: Got the dreaded, "Engine malfunction! Reduced power." message in Boston.

Monday 2/26, 9 PM: Called Roadside Assistance to transport the car to the dealer. Asked THREE times to confirm that they were sending a flatbed; the guy showed up with a conventional tow truck. I refused the tow. Took until 12:30 AM to get somebody to my house with the right truck ... the guy came from about 30 miles away.

Tuesday 2/27, around 11:30 AM: Dealer calls. It's not the fuel pump, it's the DME. BMW is coding one for the car; it's due at the dealer on Thu.

Thu 3/1: Dealer calls. No DME. Turns out they need an additional level of approval. Unit is due on Monday.

Mon 3/5: I call the dealer. The DME is in. Car is running better, but still not right. They need to do some more parts. (I think it was #1 and #2 injectors.)

Tue 3/6: The got the parts...but they're the wrong ones.

Next step is anybody's guess.

Oh, and no loaner. Thank goodness for my 5-year-old wreck -- the M5. (Which had been down with a dead battery, which was replaced THE DAY BEFORE the 335i crapped out. Talk about good timing!!!)
