I have custom-ordered two BMWs now with MT, which I would have done anyway since BMW is very good about allowing custom orders, but it's not like I had a choice. First time around my dealer found
three cars east of the Mississippi with MT, none of which had options I wanted, and this second time my CA told me that it wasn't even worth searching for a car. (And I did confirm there were none around.)
MT is dying partially because no BMW dealer willingly stocks MT cars, and customers who want one come in and can usually be sold on a car on the lot. "Well we have this car which has everything you want except MT ...". Not everyone can or is willing to wait 6-10 weeks for delivery. If I was trying to get rid of MT cars, that'd be the strategy I'd take. In a survey BMW sent me I stated as kindly as possible it would be nice if they keep MT around.
Anyways, OP, absolutely place a customer order. Do Performance Center delivery since it appears time isn't of the essence ...you won't regret it.
