It was not just black - but matte black - they wanted no light reflecting from the camera car onto the subject vehicle. BMW probably 'contracted' the shoot - this appears to be part pf abigger package (assuming that the stunt work we see in this vid is part of a 'movie' that BMW will release). Putting my project management hat on, I suspect that they did all of the photography, B-roll video, a movie (which we haven't seen) and these odds and ends in one big glump. I'd have to search for when those odd duck shots in the desert showed up as 'spy camera' photos (and I wouldn't be surprised if that info wasn't intentionally distributed to one of the known 'spy photo' folks).
