Very sad. The salesman we bought a four-year old secondhand X3 from was keen and seemed knowledgeable. He'd started off as a "Genius".
But on newer purchases I think the SO and I have had more product knowledge than the salesman. My 1 series was mis-described on the internet site as having front parking sensors. And lots of dealer secondhand sites can't differentiate correctly between standard spec and optional extras.
