I hear that. I've been planning on getting a 5 series since last summer and settled on the M5 (instead of the M550i) early this year. My existing lease ends on Aug 2nd and I really wanted to wait for the 2020 model (I wanted IDrive 7 and the new live cockpit) so I figured I'd be stuck renting something for a couple/few months. I was able to extend my lease 2 months and I should get the new one well before my lease ends.
The waiting is hard as hell though, isn't it.

Is your existing lease a BMW? If so (or just FYI), BMWFS allows up to 6 month extension (on a month to month prorated basis) if you have a new BMW ordered. |
They can extend even further - my X6 lease was extended by a total of 7 months due to the delay in the F90's delivery in my case.
