I find water and generic car soap work as good as any high end car soap I've ever tried.

The tricky part is removing the water before water spots form, and applying you favorite polish/wax. Chamois works for the former.

There are as many opinions on the latter as there are on best engine oils to use. So I'll leave that one alone.
