3) Bang and Olufsen

In 2014 they renamed BMW Professional as Harman Kardon Logic 7 and added Harman Kardon labels to the speakers. We don't know why they made this change, but one might speculate that two factors may have influenced the decision:
1) With the intro of Bang and Olufsen, BMW were no longer embarassed by the notion that their premium audio option was the mass market Harman Kardan brand also seen in Chevys
2) People who were paying $900 for the BMW Professional option couldn't visually see the difference between their speakers and the base speakers and were demanding some sort of branding.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to explain this. Looks like you really did your homework. I was worried the sound would be terrible on the "premium" audio. I listened to my music on the M5 and realized quickly it's better versus the Harmon Kardon on the E92 M3. Now it all makes sense!
The premium audio/HK Logic 7 is quite good. Remember people who are buying 528i and 535i models are paying something like $900 extra for that. It's a 650W system.
