I think if you drive controlled in UK 40mpg will be possible. I now get on the autobahn a lot and I don't hang around accelerating and with the speed. Compared to the 911 the engine also warms up to operating temperature much quicker, allowing full throttle use. I would also say the build quality between the 2 is very similar. The BMW OS is also a bit better. 911 is special and iconic though and even though not run-in yet makes the BMW feel a little sluggish - which it is not! Bike and gym get more use and have way more miles than both.
