It's worth having, even if you don't plan on pushing it too hard. It only takes another person to over estimate their ability and you can find yourself in the wrong place with a bent car.
Most track insurance that I know of is agreed value based anyway, so there's no liability coverage, but it will cover repairing your car or replacing it.
