I'm surprised that this wasn't explained to you upon delivery...
From what I was told, our cars have BMW Connected Drive, which means that our cars literally have a cellular SIM card installed, and the car maintains 3G connection to the cellular networks at all times (when available).
- This is how weather and stocks widgets work.
- This is how BMW Concierge works - Call up Concierge and you speak to a call center operator. You can ask them for directions to a specific location/restaurant/Ferrari dealership, and they remotely send the coordinates to your navigation system - AWESOME!
- This is how BMW Emergency Call works - When you get in an accident, your car assesses the severity and calls the relevant emergency services immediately for you.
This is ALSO how BMW TeleServices works - "service-related" vehicle data is automatically sent to the BMW dealer you purchased your car from.
