It doesn't take too much muscle...there is not alot of slack in the hoses and any slight jerk to wiggle out the hose from the OEM DVs can cause the plastic nipple to rip off...I hope its not the case but that situation comes to mind when I tried to diagnose your problem...I hope I am wrong..
